Quality team. Teaches not only fundamentals, but the mental part of the game. Has great teamwork skills. Plays a higher level of softball and sets up against higher level competition to make the players better prepared for college softball.

This team means everything to our daughter. We are humbled by the experience of club softball and have nothing but the best to say about Flames of Nebraska softball!!

You are an amazing coach Rick. I wasn’t our best player but you worked just as hard with me as you did with any other player, I became a better player cause of you!!

To the man, Coach Rick Buerer I call my second father, thank you for everything you have taught me. I could rave about your phenomenal coaching skills, but you received plenty of that today.. I’m sure your head is big enough. No Coach, I want to take time to thank you for the things you taught me off the field. Things like patience, the desire to never give up, and when to eat a Twix bar. You taught me how to wait to see how a situation develops before panicking; that the anxiety leading up to it is only caused by myself, and it’s not going to change the outcome. You taught me that even when things seem completely hopeless, there’s always a possibility of coming out on top, and I’ll never forgive myself for not finding out what would have happened if I had given it my all. Of course, you taught me how to bite my tongue, and pick my battles which is something I use daily. However, above all you taught me leadership. You taught me how to work for something bigger than myself. You taught me how to lead shamelessly, which is something I will forever be indebted to you. Coach, thank you for inviting me into this crazy Flames Family you have created, it’s a place I will forever call home. I love you so much, and am so grateful for our irreplaceable, odd, and goofy friendship. I hope you had a fabulous birthday! I apologize for being a little late… however, I find it rather fitting!

Playing for the Flames of Nebraska saved my love for softball after wanting to quit. Coach Rick helped me become not only a better player, but a better person. I learned so much from him and the other coaches that were a part of this program. He pushed me to be a competitor, and I had the opportunity to make so many great friendships and memories during my years with the Flames
